CAKE DECORATING DEMONSTRATION!
Evergreen's Bakery Manager Evelyn Clark say's that the November 20th pre-thanksgiving cake decorating demonstration at Evergreen Market's Goodness Sakes Bakery was a huge success. Customers and Evergreen's crew cake decorating specialists and customers had an opportunity to learn from one of the cake decorating industry's premier cake professionals. Delon Schmall and his technician Neils decorated a multitude of beautiful cakes and were available for questions and advice. Delon is a baking professional and a cake decorating spokesperson for Rich's bakery, supplier of many of Evergreen's cakes. In addition to the demonstration of cake decorating techniques and short-cuts, the two sampled many of the new frostings now available at Evergreen IGA to all who attended the store that day(the Coconut and carmel were this authors new favorites).
In addition to providing a great educational and decorating experience the two professionals showed us how to decorate cakes in the dark. Evergreen IGA and the Indian Valley experienced a four hour power failure. Reportedly limbs fell across power lines and darkened the Greenville community during most of the demonstration. The Store was able to switch to the back-up generator, and the two professional decorators good-naturedly trooped thru the afternoon in very limited lighting conditions. When Delon and Neils realized that it had been snowing during the entire demonstration the two beat a hasty retreat for home, promising to return when better weather prevailed.

Veterans Day Parade 2009

When you stop to think about your current way of life, the current state of your country, and the freedom that you enjoy, we all take it for granted because let’s be frank, it’s what we are used to. But when you think all the way back to the First World War to the present, you start to realise what the men and women of this country did for us, so we can live in as much freedom as we do today.
Without the veterans that served in uniform, we could be living a completely different way of life, a much harsher one than you think you live in today. Over 1 million people gave their lives in defense of America, and it is still rising due to the current war in Iraq. But 700,000 of these people have been there, and done that. Approximately 24.5 million people that live in America are veterans, thats about 12.5% of the population.
Think to yourself and wonder what it would have been like if these people didn’t go out and fight for our countries freedom. We want you to reflect on the courage that these veterans went through, and give them a thank you for all the hard work they have done to make your life and country a better place.
Thank You Veterans!

There is a hero inside each of us, ready to make a difference when others need our help.
When you donate blood you are a hero, and you can get that feeling over and over again throughout the year. Think about how the people who needed those donations feel about you. You are, without a doubt, a hero to them.
To find the hero in you, simply visit a United Blood Services donor center or blood drive in your area. For more information and to schedule an appointment, visit www.unitedbloodservices.org.
